Finally found- my HG concealer

Two days ago i wanted to decide about which concealer that i already own would actually become the HG. I really floated around and couldn't put my finger on it...because yesterday i went shopping, and i did find it.

It's the Nivea Coverstick in 09 Beige. *breaths in* Ladies, this is IT. It is ONE of them actually. Excuse the impetuousness.....*rolls eyes*...my bad. I do it all the time!

Price and packaging: It's quite cheap, less than the equivalent of 10 euros, and the packaging is very nice. Sometimes the typical lipstick-shaped drugstore concealer bugs me because it's so uncomfortable to use, especially when you use it and the top becomes a little blunt; it's hard to get into all the small creases of the nose or in the inner eye corner. This one is shaped like a thin stick; to get the product out you simply screw the bottom and then screw it back when you're done.

At first i thought this was going to be a Clinque Superfine Liner for Brows-kind-of-job- a terrific product that unfortunately cannot be twisted back...hello drama. I'm really happy with this little aspect because hey, this is supposed to be a cheapster, remember? I can't wait to slam my friend who's rather snobby and solemnly declares she 'loathes' Nivea makeup! Ha!
The color of the packaging is a nice peachy beige, a nice nude that mimics lighter complexions' natural tone. It's not one of those transparent lid disasters that get all slathered with product and look like a mess after three uses.

Shades: I have mine in 09 Beige, which is quite funny (and confusing at the same time) since they only had two shades in the stores (and on the website), namely Nude (i forgot the number, perhaps 05?) and Beige. Errr why would it be 09 if there are only TWO shades available? It's not like it bothers me, but it could be a little confusing (it was for me!), you might end up rummaging through the makeup rack looking for something a tad lighter/darker, namely the expected number 08 or something like that. You won't find it, at least not right now (or maybe it's just a Swedish case, who knows).

When i tried this shade i was a little worried it was going to be a 'mistake', as my Maybelline Coverstick experience turned out to be (light plummy pink concealer anyone?). The color appears as a very light peach, period. No pinks, no nudes, no beige, just peach. Hmmmm. Half of me wanted so badly to take it home (i'll get to the best part in a second), the other one was pulling my sleeve and guiding my eyes to the Maybelline rack...i went back and forth between Nude and Beige, but i finally gave in and purchased Beige. Nude was way too light (think about someone with W15-W20 skintone).

This is THE perfect concealer shade for me, and i own quite a bunch. I always think about Eve Pearl's advice- never get something white, it will make you look like a raccoon, never get something too dark, it's easy to be fooled, and you'll look sick. get something as close as possible to your natural skintone, preferably on the peachy side, two shades lighter (or even one, not more). This is it! I cannot believe i found it!

I usually get overexcited about products, at least more than my favorite beauty bloggers do. But this time, it's so right! The color is perfect for me. Not too light, not too dark, not too pink (i HATE PINK undereye circles!), not too peachy. I just couldn't go wrong with this one! Really!

Consistency: This is one of the best perks- it's CREAMY. The creamiest stick concealer i have ever tried. I remember my old Shiseido cover stick- no way. That one was harsher and harder to blend in, and it costed four times this one. It's just crazy!! This little fellow glides on my skin, leaving a PERFECT amount of product, and for really imperceptible retouches, you can just TOUCH it to your skin and it will leave a bit of product. I am VERY, very pleased and surprised with it.

Staying Power: another positive aspect. It stayed on with absolutely no problem from 4 p.m. when i put it on in the store and it didn't budge till 10 p.m when i took my makeup off. Though i am sure it would have continued doing a great job way past midnight....anyways i am going to test it really soon- clubbing and dancing i mean. Let's see what happens :)!

It doesn't crease, not even remotely close to what other concealers crease like. It just didn't set into my lines which is fantastic! However, i prefer to moisturize my eye area, because well, i always do it, and because i find it even more gliding when i apply the concealer. I think setting it with powder it's optional, i didn't do it because i don't think it's really necessary (combination skin here).

The most pleasant part about it...it is scented :) and i really like it. Smells like Nivea makeup remover, NOT like the Nivea creme or Nivea Visage cream. It's REALLY scented but it doesn't reek. Personally i was getting fed up with stinky, plasticine smelling concealers (Maybelline, L'Oreal, Max Factor, even Clinique and Shiseido) and when i felt the scent i thought i was delirious :)
The smell isn't overbearing at all, it's just there, and you will stop noticing it in a few minutes so no worries there. I LOVE how it smells!!!! Kept sniffing my hands (where i tested it first) on the way home!

For the moment, it's definitely my HG concealer. Waiting and seeing, who knows. But right now, i am seriously in love.

My HG Products (so far)

Currently, this is my HG list of products. Still, i'm rather going back and forth whether to purchase new things (nooooo!!!!!!) or stick with the ones that i already have (good idea) since i really want to start hitting pan on a dozen items at least.

CONCEALER: Haven't found my HG yet, but i have some products i love. First, from drugstore makeup, Isadora Concealer stick and L'Oreal Touche Magique in the lightest shade (pink). A great dupe for YSL Touche Eclat. High end concealers, or close enough, Clinique All About Eyes in Petal. But i'm not crazy about it. My fave would be the L'Oreal stylo.

LIQUID FOUNDATION: Face Stockholm Liquid Foundation in Noble; Estee Lauder Double Wear in 3N1 Ivory Beige; Isadora Active Moisture Makeup.

POWDER: Helena Rubinstein Illumination Loose Powder; Helena Rubinstein Fairy Dust in 01 Angel Face and 02 Lady Jane. I like illuminating powders for an overall brighter effect. Drugstore- Isadora Camouflage (a great translucent powder meant to neutralize redness, and IT WORKS!)

BRONZER: Face Stockholm bronzer in 04 Maui.

CREAM BRONZER: Lush Charlotte's Island...but it washes off :( However it's the best stuff available, it's organic, not expensive at all, and it gives the most amazing natural color ever. NOTHING can beat it. I also like the Nuxe bronzing palette.

BLUSH: H&M in Pink something. It's a cheapster but a fantastic product.

LIPSTICK: Rimmel London in 600 Soft Coral (my all-time favorite); Helena Rubinstein Wanted Shine lipstick in Showstopper (newly found love). Fabulous lipstick, though pricy (30 euros...)

LIPGLOSS: H&M lipglosses, especially the peach toned ones. They're light, soft, beautifully colored and not sticky at all.

LIPLINER: Maybelline in 03 Rosewood, Viva la Diva in Nude.

EYE PENCIL: H&M in Chocolate. I seriously haven't managed to find this color replicated not even in high-end brands.

EYE BASE: I use regular concealer.
EYELINER: Don't use that.

EYESHADOW: Isadora Browns (matte palet), Golds (shimmery nudes). I love the color selection and i couldn't find any high-end dupes (not that i would have bothered. I prefer using drugstore eyeshadows and lipglosses because i think it's the same thing with a few exceptions).

Makeup Survey

Though nobody asked/tagged me (haha) to do this, i just thought it would be a great idea to do it...you know. It's fun. And this is my blog, so there you go.
The lovely idea was 'stolen' from Sarah (bellamakeup.blogspot.com) and she did it many many months ago.

DAILY MAKEUP SURVEY
1. What time did you do your makeup today? I didn't put makeup on today because i didn't feel like it. But yesterday, around 12.00 (noon).

2. What's the least expensive beauty item you used? I've got several of those, actually...i think it's a no-name lip liner i bought from a small pick-me-up shop near the St Petersburg subway (while visiting).

3. What was the biggest problem you needed to correct? Undereye circles, definitely, and two-three minor gaps in my eyebrows...

4. Did you apply false eyelashes? No. I use falsies only twice or thrice a month, maybe even less often.

5. Did you do anything while applying makeup? I always listen to music (it inspires me) or watch tv. I listened to spotify-a lot of new discoveries.

6. Biggest makeup mishap today? I didn't contour 100%...perfectly, so to speak. It happens quite often that i either go too smooth with the bronzer or apply it rather heavily. Oh well.

7. Did you have a makeup inspiration in mind? I always have something/someone in mind when i do my makeup. It's not usually a star but a trend/style i assume would look good on me. Yesterday it was my classic enhanced eyes (i can't say 'smokey' because i don't do smokey eye makeup during daytime)/ lightly made lips.

8. What's the most time-consuming part of your makeup routine? Concealing my dark circles and the eyebrows. I haven't lost the bad habit of literally measuring the angle (eye measuring, no tools needed) and taking a couple of photos to see the real deal when the job's finished.

9. What's part of your routine is the most fun? Contouring, highlighting, blush application. I love experimenting with new tones of pinks (my faves for blush) and new angles/spots for my highlighter.

10. What part of your makeup makes the biggest difference in the way you look? concealer (undereye are, it's mostly foundation actually), because it brightens my eye area and makes me look fresh faced; eyebrow contouring, because it reveals my natural eyebrow arch; eyelashes, mine are blonde (though i have dark brown hair) and quite invisible if not made up.

11. Neutral or colorful eyeshdaow? Absolutely neutral. I can't remember the last time i wore a colored eyeshadow...i think it was seven-eight months ago at a party i was wearing a blue dress...and the eyeshadow was more on the plum side rather than vibrant blue.

12. Liquid or mineral foundation? Liquid. Mineral foundation doesn't stay on as beautifully and cakes a little in my pores.

13. Do you do your hair or makeup first? Makeup...didn't have time for hair :(

14. Did you pack a makeup bag to take with you for the day? I never do, though i always say i will. But i packed some lipstick i didn't get to use (i never do, always forget about it).

15. When did you finish your makeup? Hmmmm around 12.40.
