Favorite Drugstore Lipsticks

Ladies and gentlemen,
I present you, from left to right (and in the middle, a self-made lipsti-gloss), some of my absolute drugstore finds. Oh the love!!

- Maybelline Fatal Red (530)
- Rimmel Coral In Gold (210)
- Rimmel Soft Coral (600)
- Isadora Bon Bon Pink (14)
- Maybelline Peach Juice (51)
- L'Oreal Star Secrets- Michelle Yeoh (711)- discontinued (*sad face*)

The round box in the middle is a lipgloss i made out of several lipsticks + a pharmacy lip balm. It's absolutely adorable and i'm using a Hello Kitty gloss jar, what else :)

Orientational pics:

- Isadora Bon Bon Pink

- Rimmel Coral In Gold

- L'Oreal 711

- Maybelline Peach Juice

These are my must-haves. Too bad they discontinued the 711 (L'Oreal, that is) but i think i spotted a perfume shop that *fingers crossed* was sporting a sale of some kind and i miiiiight have seen the shiny black tubes lined up...though i'm not sure, i know for a fact they're discontinued (remember the old Aishwarya, Michelle Yeoh and Laetitia Casta commercial? i think i wasn't in college yet ...LOL) so better luck next time i try something new from drugstore brands. Aaand smile!!!

Maybelline Color Sensational Lipstick in Fatal Red

When: I purchased this a long time ago and always wanted to rave about it. I do believe it is a perfect dupe for a high end lipstick.

What: The Maybelline Color Sensational Range in nr 530 Fatal Red. The denominations of lipsticks are completely different in the US compared to the UK, and in the UK compared with the rest of Europe. For example i tried to find the Rimmel Airy Fairy and the other pink from Maybelline (don't remember the name but every beauty blogger raved about it) but it was impossible. So the lipstick might be marketed under a different name.

The consistency is adorable, very creamy but not cakey at all. It also has a rather shiny finish (not shimmery, just glossy) which i love.

The color is beautiful. It's a pure Russian red, no orange, pink or purple undertones at all. The photos are quite exact but still, the real red doesn't manage to get through 100%. It's a stunning, classic bright red i've always wanted to have in my collection but always came across wacksters such as the Dior lipsticks (they all have a mauveish undertone i can't stand) or the Chanel ones (way too pricy). This is a perfect dupe.

It tends to bleed a little bit so make sure you set your lips with powder, lip primer and a good lip liner. However, it's not as hazardous as other drugstore lipsticks that don't even have a pure red lipstick.

I have worn this twice only (in public, haha), once, the day i bought it, and the second time at a cocktail party. I am not bragging or anything but i noticed all the men on the street were looking at me (1st time) and my black dress, dark ponytail, pearl earrings and this red lipstick were the sensation of the evening at the party :). And i MEAN it.

(just natural light, like all the other pics)

It's already one of my favorites. The only other red shade i would ever purchase is the Chanel Hydrabase in Red nr.5....for the moment.

Help To Find Mr. Right

Today's try...and i got cherried away.
I've had this lipstick for a while, and never tried it properly, only a dab here, a swatch here. I'm actually glad i got to do it since it's a beautiful color for summer, especially in the evening. I prefer lighter lipsticks, more natural, peach and pinks, but this is a re-find i'm definitely glad about. Who knows what other stuff i've got laying around in my makeup shelves...

The product i used is called 'Help To Find Mr Right' and it's a lovely red lip tint from H&M cosmetics. I really really LOVE their lipglosses, lipsticks and tints, together with their false lashes and eye liners.

The color is beautiful, the little pan retails for about 3 euros or actually less, and i simply can't believe the wonderful texture. It's creamy, gel-like, it easily dissolves in contact with water (not necessarily a pro but i like to be able to completely wipe off any traces of lipstick if i'm wearing something darker than the usual so i'd apply a new one and be good to go), and you basically don't need a lipgloss afterwards. Whether you decide to use a serious layer of product or just a little dab the results will be the same; the color is less intense when applied scarcely, giving rosy, dewy plump lips. My complaints about these lip tints is that they're too pigmented to be used as cream blushes (well...they weren't supposed to do this in the first place so..) and the rather limited choice of colors...apart from this cherry red there's also fuchsia, then a taupe sort of pink, matte and creamy, a very pretty color that doesn't suit my skintone (unfortunately) and then a few others i haven't tried yet...which makes me think i must embark on a shopping spree as soon as possible...

I also used a lip liner to prevent any bleeding from happening, though the gel consistency doesn't really allow it to happen:

Maybelline's Moisture Extreme in 59 Rosewood/Bois de Rose, my all time favorite.

Swatches:

(The line next to the lip tint is the lip liner. I smudged it a little so the undertones would come out better).
Hurray for drugstore makeup!
