Maybelline Color Sensational Lipstick in Fatal Red

When: I purchased this a long time ago and always wanted to rave about it. I do believe it is a perfect dupe for a high end lipstick.

What: The Maybelline Color Sensational Range in nr 530 Fatal Red. The denominations of lipsticks are completely different in the US compared to the UK, and in the UK compared with the rest of Europe. For example i tried to find the Rimmel Airy Fairy and the other pink from Maybelline (don't remember the name but every beauty blogger raved about it) but it was impossible. So the lipstick might be marketed under a different name.

The consistency is adorable, very creamy but not cakey at all. It also has a rather shiny finish (not shimmery, just glossy) which i love.

The color is beautiful. It's a pure Russian red, no orange, pink or purple undertones at all. The photos are quite exact but still, the real red doesn't manage to get through 100%. It's a stunning, classic bright red i've always wanted to have in my collection but always came across wacksters such as the Dior lipsticks (they all have a mauveish undertone i can't stand) or the Chanel ones (way too pricy). This is a perfect dupe.

It tends to bleed a little bit so make sure you set your lips with powder, lip primer and a good lip liner. However, it's not as hazardous as other drugstore lipsticks that don't even have a pure red lipstick.

I have worn this twice only (in public, haha), once, the day i bought it, and the second time at a cocktail party. I am not bragging or anything but i noticed all the men on the street were looking at me (1st time) and my black dress, dark ponytail, pearl earrings and this red lipstick were the sensation of the evening at the party :). And i MEAN it.

(just natural light, like all the other pics)

It's already one of my favorites. The only other red shade i would ever purchase is the Chanel Hydrabase in Red nr.5....for the moment.

Beauty, in all its forms

(i LOVE facial hair+ darker foundation + chalky lavender lipstick. Timeless)

(real hair color, real locks, 100% natural lips, 100% natural cleavage. Congratulations for the tasteful ensemble. a real beauty icon)

(a very successful Swedish blogger)

(when bad hair happens to good people)

(don't get me wrong. But Heidi Klum made a career out of selling swimming suits and flashing her 'supermodel' bod. Uhm, looks like we were tricked)

(Carrie screwed up. Damn)

(uneven nails. don't you dare think about filing them)

Outs only...

I was talking to a friend of mine yesterday about makeup products in general and how she's always wanted to try certain things but could never bring herself up to do it because of the continuous and consistent harassment the SA's usually inflict upon every shopping spree she ever intends to carry through...

So i figured it was time for an 'In and Out'-kind of thing which is certainly going to be Outs only :)

1) The uber annoying s.a. who knows NOTHING whatsoever

It's actually a trend in Sweden to know crap if you're a cosmetics salesperson. Sweden's replica of Sephora is called Kicks and it's a nation-wide chain of perfumeries. However understocked they might be, it pales in comparison with the perpetual cluelessness of the salespersons. They have no idea of their latest products, how they're supposed to be used, what the ingredients are, not to mention the basic knowledge needed to work in the field. One s.a. couldn't make the difference between a highlighter and an eyeshadow (!!) and no, it's not about the language barrier. Most ladies have absolutely no idea they actually HAVE a certain product in stock and give you a complete defenseless look, as if you're asking for poison or hemorrhoid ointment in a perfume shop. Bleh.

2) The uber annoying s.a. who thinks she know EVERYTHING (thus can fool you)

Have you ever got into a perfume store, looking for nothing in particular, and spotted a lovely looking s.a. with impeccable makeup, consequently approached her (and saw she's actually wearing a little bit more than nothing on her face) and asked about her makeup? 99% of the s.a.'s will rapidly enumerate an endless list of products you just KNOW they couldn't have used simply because well, you've got quite a trained eye...and you can spot the difference between a high-end mineral powder foundation and a thick, difficult to blend, almost rancid and extremely overpriced MAC? Just saying...
I was really disappointed when a 'nice' s.a. with beautiful skin told me she used Laura Mercier oil-free primer, Laura Mercier Silk foundation AND the secret camouflage. Whereas it was clearly visible she wasn't wearing ANYTHING due to the slight redness around her nostrils and the rather pronounced little blue veins around the eyes, she wasn't even capable of 'revealing' the glorious shade of foundation she had allegedly used. Double bleh. Ladies, some of the people who come into the store actually happen to KNOW a bit about makeup...and can see when you're wearing something or not. So just cut them some slack and don't embarrass yourselves. It's rude, crass and completely unprofessional.

3) The uber annoying s.a. who thinks you know NOTHING thus you're going to buy the whole store

'Can I help you? Would you like to see the latest foundation from X? Ooooohhh that's such a gorgeous shade, but i think it should definitely be teamed with the blush...oh no, then you must absolutely try the brush, it's special...as in, it REALLY goes smooth and it's especially made to work with the blush...so yeah...uhm no, i don't think the color works for you...maybe combine it with the cream highlighter, what do you think? Oh the ingredients MIGHT be the same but trust me, this GLOWS whereas the other one doesn't...that much...but as you wish, if you say you've tried it before...although, are you sure? i mean SURE SURE that you tried this before??? oh you didn't like it, okay then. THIS is going to make your skin so soft..i never tried it but it will, trust me..and it's on sale. Yes it can be a little expensive, but if you think of the...oh. I see you want a highlighter. This eyeshadow is AMAZING. No, it's not a highlighter, but it's so beautiful! You said you're looking for a dry shampoo? I suggest this leave-in conditioner and the serum..it will make your hair so smooth! and shiny! oh you just wanted a dry shampoo. I see....and i don't know about that brush, but this hair drier, with ionic particles, is REALLY going to...'
Are you serious??? SHUT UP ALREADY!!!

4) The latest & ugliest fashion trends

I don't know why but it seems that the latest fashion is all about getting dressed in the dark...thus not being able to recognize your gender anymore. Don't get me wrong, i embrace all self-expressing trends and tendencies but i see no problem in me personally preferring to wear normal clothes as in colored, nice, feminine...why is it so hard to find pretty clothes? Not glitter and sparkly pink unicorns, just...NORMAL! I hate the depressive green, the washed gray and the unidentified shades of brown i absolutely cannot bear to even look at, let alone wear..

Harem pants- seriously, IT LOOKS BAD ON YOU. Get over them. NOW.

Unidentified trends and combinations. I am not an authority in the fashion industry but i do believe people look a little weird when they decide to take the 'she could wear a potato bag' saying LITERALLY, and pair it with a bag which resembles a male...pair of....yeah, you guessed it. This lady above seems to be in need of some shoe cleaning as well.

I know what you're trying to do, but trust me, Kate Moss is the ONLY person in the world who can pull the drape-meets-boho-chic-chick-who spent the night in jail look. REALLY.

I'm not a control freak or a OCD-person but the jumpsuit (?) could look so much better if it was ironed...just a thought.

Yes, you have a designer bag from the '50's (i assume). Yes, you have hotpants. Yes, you have a ruffled tank top (or whatever that shirt is intended to look like). Yes, you don't brush your hair (face removed, privacy reasons) to make a statement (i assume). yes you're wearing those fashionable sandals because some model was spotted wearing something resembling those at the Paris Fashion Week. But you see, you're not Sienna Miller. You're gonna pass for someone who hates showers and dresses up in the dark. That's the only statement you'll ever make.

I'm 100% sure the lady above WORKED HARD to find this outfit. It looks painfully difficult to find because we all assumed it was extincted during the '80's. Apparently not. The shoes are horrendous as well, by the way. Why is it that everyone is trying to be the anti-hero again?? are we going to stop using makeup and waxing our legs as well???

Mom shirt, '80's pants, Granny purse. Call me a redneck but i am seriously not getting it. I thought the lovely Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen were taking 'boho *sh%&¤tty* chic to extreme, but apparently, there's another winner.

...i'll keep them coming. The outs that is.
